Hello,

My name is Luca Plattner and I am a Swiss photo/videographer based on the beautiful South Coast of England, where I have lived for over 10 years since I first moved here to work as a university researcher. My career allowed me to experience the cultures of other great places such as California, Italy and Singapore and to travel to many wonderful spots around the world.

I have always had a passion for nature and human ingenuity, as a sensitive observer through photography, as a methodical student, through research, and as an enthusiastic designer, maker and entrepreneur.

I feel a special attraction for light, that intangible medium of interaction that travels millions of miles from the Sun to nourish life on Earth, to bounce off the wings of butterflies, and to shape the world that we see.

It took me some time over my varied career to appreciate that some clichés exchanged off hand around the office such as ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’ and ‘perception is reality’ are indeed pearls of wisdom, because our senses are our original window on the world and we have an incredible capacity to use them to great effect.

So here I am, creating images apparently worth millions of words, helping people send visual messages, giving others the means to actually see the wood for the trees, read between the lines or even see the light – to use more stereotypes. At least, that’s what I’m gunning for!
